Waiting For Families

Hey there! I hope you're having a great week and enjoying some nice weather! Just a quick post to say hello today:)

LOTS of children still wait for their families.  Here are some links where you may find them...

HOLT's Waiting Child Program  They have programs in China, South Korea, Africa, the Philippines, etc.

Reece's Rainbow--an advocacy site that points you in the right direction to the agencies for children they have on their site.

Bethany Christian Services--programs around the world, including the US.

AdoptUSKids--the US foster system. There are 1000s of children available within the US.

Why do kids wait? Some are older, some are siblings groups, some have major special needs, some have minor special needs.  Many reasons. These reasons are the same, no matter where the children are from. All of these children need families.

Have you seen Sevenly this week? They are supporting Reece's Rainbow.  And they have kids' shirts!

We'll have a family to support next week! Get ready!

Sunday News

Hello!! It's a beautiful day here in the midsouth. I hope you're having a great weekend! No new family this week, but we should have more in the next couple of weeks. Email me at tonyagarrick5 at gmail.com if you're an adopting family that wants to be on our blog! We would love to have you!

I hope you'll take a minute to look at some of these waiting children. They are in need of families.  In some of these situations, it could mean the difference between life and death.  Some countries do not have the medical care needed for these children.  Some will be discarded after they "age out" of the system.  So, if you've ever considered adoption or know someone who has, take a look at these sites. These children need FAMILIES! Not just good thoughts and prayers, but families. Someone to love them, take care of them and let them grow up the way everyone deserves.  Imagine your own child not having enough food, medical treatment, no heat in his home, no mama to love him. These children are real children, with names and faces.  Please consider how you are being called to care for these children. Orphan care? Adoption? Advocating? Supporting families?
I've put together a short list of agencies. (Reece's Rainbow is an advocacy group, not an adoption agency.)  If you know of others (and there are MANY!), leave us a comment!

All God's Children has several programs, including adoption, sponsorship and mission trips.

Reece's Rainbow has many children that are waiting. They advocate for these children and connect you with the agency.

Holt International is our adoption agency. They also have a Waiting Child Program. (and you can sponsor children in various countries if you are interested in orphan care)

Bethany Christian Services is another agency that I've heard great things about.

Spence-Chapin has domestic and international programs, too.

Interested in fostering/adopting in the US? Here's the link to AdoptUSKids. I know it's not Asia, but hey, every child deserves a family! God didn't specify where when He said to care for the widows and orphans.

Did you know that if you don't have an agency in your state, you may can still adopt through their program? My agency is on the other side of the country, so they gave me the names of social workers they work with in my area. It's been a smooth process, too!

Thanks for checking in today.  Thank you for supporting the Smiths last week, too! They will meet their sweet daughter, Guan Ya, by tomorrow! Have a great week!

New Year, New Family--The Rylands!

Welcome to the Give1Save1 Asia blog!  This is what we do....we ask you to give $1 and share this page on your own Facebook, Twitter, blog, etc.  It's a share-a-thon! We feature an adoptive family for 1 week and let you bless their socks off.  It's super easy and super fun!  We would love to see you every week! You need Paypal to participate. If you don't have one, we'll wait while you set it up......

Okay. Now it's time to welcome the RYLANDS family!  Our first family of 2013-yayyy!   They are no strangers to adoption.  The Rylands are adopting their 4th and 5th sons from China.  That's right,  2 more boys-ages 9 and 13!  They will be welcomed by 3 brothers  (one biological son and 2 sons from China) and their parents, Tom and Angie.  This is definitely a boy house!  Read more about their journey here.  AND, even better is that their money raised -up to $1000.00- through Give1Save1 ASIA this week will be matched by another ministry--Journey Together Ministry.  A double blessing for this family!

Take a minute to watch this video....and get ready to laugh. These boys are in for loads of fun!

Wasn't that fun??  This family's a trip.....are you ready to give to them? Right now, they need $12,000  and are grateful for everything that you give.   Remember, your gift will be doubled, so let's start the year off right.  Adopting 2 children at one time is expensive!!  But such a blessing!
Click the big donate button to the right (where you will be directed to their blog to donate using the YELLOWISH DONATE BUTTON--we're flexible, right?)  or DONATE here.

Thanks, all!  We love comments, too! Let's show the Rylands some love today! Have a great week and know that your generosity is appreciated!!

Welcome!

Happy Monday!  I hope you enjoyed your weekend. Congrats to Katie and Jody, the winners of our very fab Starbucks cards and thanks to everyone who supported the O'Dell family last week.  Your generosity is so appreciated!

This week, I'll post a few articles about international adoption, fundraisers and try to hit on some frequently asked questions.

First, I'll give you a little background about my family. My husband and I have 2 extremely awesome boys, ages 8 and 11, and are in the process of adopting a sweet little girl from South Korea. We have hit that part of the adoption where the application has been sent in, we've made the big announcement , submitted more paperwork and now....WE WAIT.
Sooo, in the meantime, I have bought a few girly things for my all boy home and will start compiling her life book soon. Also, I've applied for every grant under the sun and tried to figure out creative ways to save money.

What did you do to pass the time during the long wait? Decorate the new room? Take some classes?

If you're adopting, what agency did you use? There are many adoption agencies to choose from. We chose Holt International. They have a waiting child program that seemed to be exactly what we were looking for. Interested? Take a look. Have you had great experiences with another agency? Let me know and I'll mention them so everyone can know!

Check out the other Give1Save1 pages this week, too. You can click on our "back to world map" button and select the Caribbean, Africa or the US page from there. Adopting or know a family who is adopting?  We would love to feature them on our blog.  Email me at tonyagarrick5 (at) gmail (dot) com.
Have a blessed week!

A boy and a girl, 5 years old, both are waiting in China.  Both are in orphanages and both have some special needs. Remember we talked about waiting children before?                           These 2 children are waiting for their family. Wanna help?  Watch their video now and get your paypals ready....

The O'Dell Family

Don't you love them already? Me, too!  Let's blast the O'Dell's paypal this week!! They are traveling soon--this month, actually!  Traveling is expensive, but they are more than ready to go get their newest additions!

Are you ready to be a part of their story??  DONATE  here or by clicking the big pink donate button on the side.  Also, learn more about the O'Dells  on their blog.  SHARE their story on Facebook, tweet it, blog about it...tell your friends and neighbors:) Ok? Ok.

Joy Was Waiting

Thank you for stopping by the Asia page! Here's a little update from the Lewis family.....
they have broken $800 already and they are thrilled!  Their goal is $3000. This amount would cover travel expenses for themselves and their new daughter, Joy!  Darren and Jenna have been saving and fundraising and are soooo close to having everything covered. Would you like to help pay for their tickets? Just click the big donate button and give your dollar. Every dollar helps. If you and I give $1 and share the page with 10 of our friends and THEY give a dollar and share with THEIR friends... well, you see where this is going:) Spread the love!!
Check back tomorrow.......I'll give you an update!

Here's a link to an agency that advocates for waiting children. Do you remember what a waiting child is? Scroll down the page to read a little more about them. Joy was a waiting child, but no more, thanks to the Lewis'!  Click on Reece's Rainbow to find out more about these precious babies that are waiting for their families.  This is just one of the fabulous agencies that are advocating for these special children. They even have a smart phone app!!
